Sound
Sound is one of the most important parts of a film opening in my opinion, and because of this the group worked together for sound. If we don't get the correct sound effects or score the film opening won't seem realistic and won't create the effect that we want. We started off looking back at out audience research because we remembered we put a question about sound effects and scores. This helped us with any questions we had with choosing our sound.
For our score we will be creating it ourselves, we will do this by getting my friend Jess Grant to play piano and viola. These will be the focus in our score, we have chosen these instruments because for our research we have seen how some film openings use different types of scores. For example Zombieland and Scream use heavy scores with instruments such as bass, electric guitar and drums as their focus. But as a group we preferred scores like World War Z's, this is because it starts of calm but as the opening goes on it crescendos and becomes more dramatic. Because of limited equipment we won't be able to create a big orchestral piece like World War Z's but we are hoping to get the same feeling as it with little amounts. We also researched a little more in to different types of music by using Sound Cloud, because as a group we have chosen to create the music ourselves we will need to plan in advanced to make sure we will be able to get the score complete and ready for editing.
Once Jess sent us the samples, we felt like the first sample had a creepy unknown feel to it, because of this when meeting up with Jess we will want to experiment to see what she is capable of and to find out what will fit our film opening the best.

For sound effects we will be adding them later on in our editing process. However to do this we will need o plan ahead and know what sort of sound effects we would like:
-Leaves crunching (like they are being walked on)
*to do this we will be rubbing (or walking on) dried leaves between our hands
-Heavy breathing from people and zombies
*to do this we will separately recording our actors after filming scenes. However we will only do this if the sound of them originally doesn't come out clear.
-Branches and trees creaking
*if these don't come up well enough when filming we will see if the editing software we will be using could add them in.
-Screams
*we are hoping these will come out clear when we film.
To do this Ashlea asked Jess to see if she was up to this, below you can see Ashlea contacted her via Facebook Messenger. We also asked Jess to send us some examples of what she is capable of, you can listen to these below too. From these we were able to discuss what sort of riffs and tempos we would like. We have chosen to have it in a minor key making it have a eerie feel to it. We also wanted to have some form of crescendo and diminuendo in our score, this will build tension, getting more of a reaction from the audience. From our research we found that the score in a film opening, in the genre, is usually in a montage, due to this we have chosen to have the score just a little bit before the montage carrying on throughout it, at the end of the opening we will have the score come to a sudden stop. Below you will be able to listen to Jess's examples:
